When talking with real estate agents, when you hear them talk about buying real estate, they will refer to purchasing a “home.” However if you are selling real estate, they will frequently refer to it as a “house.” There is an explanation for these different terms used. Buying is typically an emotional decision, but when selling you need to remove any emotion from the process.

Thinking of your house as a marketable product, such as a property or real estate is easier when selling. Your goal is to get others to see it as “their potential home,” not yours anymore. If you do not deliberately make this decision, you can unconsciously create conditions where it takes longer to sell. The first big step in getting your home ready to sell is to “de-personalize” it by de-cluttering and staging.
